The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) EMEA says adoption of its Parking Security Requirements (PSR) Standard for truck parking locations has risen by more than 150% year-on-year, with participating sites now spanning 17 European countries.
Developed with input from manufacturers, insurers and logistics service providers, PSR is a minimum supply chain security standard designed to help Parking Place Operators demonstrate safety and security credentials. It also provides a practical database for freight and logistics operators seeking safer parking options for drivers, vehicles and cargo.
The expansion comes as cargo crime continues to rise across the region. Over the two years to March 2026, TAPA’s Intelligence System recorded 39,422 freight theft incidents in 50 countries. Of the 14.7% of cases that reported loss values, combined losses totalled €1.16 billion — equating to around €1.59 million targeted every 24 hours. Major thefts of €100,000+ averaged €984,705 per incident.
TAPA EMEA’s parking database now lists around 230 sites across countries including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and the UK, providing approximately 20,000 truck parking places. The network includes TAPA-certified sites and operators that have signed the Association’s Parking Place Declaration (PPD). Growth has been supported by partners including SNAP and TRAVIS Road Services, while in the UK Moto Hospitality recently signed TAPA’s PPD covering 44 motorway service locations.
TAPA EMEA President & CEO Thorsten Neumann said the momentum behind PSR shows the “gap” in truck parking is as much about visibility as it is about security. He added that TAPA is accelerating engagement with more operators across EMEA to build a larger network of professional parking locations and give members better insight into available parking.
