It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mike Lane, a highly respected figure within the removals and storage industry.
Mike passed away peacefully in hospital on 21 May.
Mike and his wife Sylvia Lane, a former President of the British Association of Removers (BAR), founded the Lane family business in 1974. Their commitment, hard work and vision helped establish one of the South West’s most successful removals and storage companies.
In 1990, the business joined the Britannia Movers International network and went on to expand beyond its Cornish roots into Devon, Somerset and Bristol. Mike’s contribution to the industry and his lasting legacy are reflected in the strength of the business today, which continues to thrive under the stewardship of subsequent generations of the Lane family.
Mike was widely respected not only within the Britannia network, but across the wider moving and storage sector. His leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to family business will be remembered by colleagues, friends and customers alike.
Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Sylvia, Mark, Rob, Ria and the entire Lane family at this difficult time.
Everyone at Movers & Storers Magazine joins colleagues and friends across the removals and storage industry in extending heartfelt sympathy to the Lane family and all who knew Mike. His contribution to the profession and the business he helped build will not be forgotten.
