Grace expands in Wellington

Grace Removals New Zealand is developing a new warehouse in Porirua, Wellington, to enhance its moving and storage services for customers.

The facility, currently under construction, will provide upgraded seismic protection and climate-controlled storage for household goods and personal possessions. The building is being constructed to the higher IL3 seismic rating, designed to withstand a one-in-1,000-year earthquake.

A specialist climate control system, designed by 22 Degrees, will help protect items in storage by maintaining recommended temperature and low humidity levels. The warehouse will also include a very early smoke detection system and a dry-pipe double knock sprinkler system to reduce the risk of fire and water damage.

Grace Removals said the building has achieved a 4 Star Green Star Design rating as part of its aim to deliver a sustainable facility.

The new warehouse has been designed by Ashton Mitchell Architects. Its colour references the original Grace Bros building in Sydney, while the woven façade pattern is inspired by the kete, linking the development to the local history and geography of Porirua Harbour.

Founded in 1911, Grace Removals now operates more than 50 branches across Australia and New Zealand.
