Fröde expands global partnerships

Logistics and moving specialist Fröde, based in Weil am Rhein, Germany, is strengthening its international ambitions while building on more than 140 years of heritage at the heart of the ‘Dreiländereck’ border region where Germany, France and Switzerland meet.

Founded in 1885, the family-owned business has evolved from a local furniture mover into a high-capacity logistics provider, now led by the third generation. Fröde operates over 16,000 m² of modern logistics space and a contemporary Euro 6 fleet, supporting premium relocation and furniture logistics services across Europe.

A key part of Fröde’s proposition is its “everything under one roof” approach. With its own fleet, trained teams and proprietary infrastructure – supported by an established partner network when required – the company positions itself as a flexible, quality-controlled one-stop shop for customers and agency partners. Services span global relocations, high-end furniture logistics (delivering more than 2 million items annually across Europe), customised logistics solutions, and warehousing including self-storage and container-based options.

Fröde’s strategic footprint also provides a distinct advantage for cross-border moves. With its main hub in Germany and a significant 10,000 m² facility in Pratteln/Basel, Switzerland, the group acts as a gateway into the Swiss market, offering specialist customs clearance, import/export handling and destination services to navigate Swiss border requirements efficiently.

To further strengthen global relationships, Fröde has appointed industry veteran Kay zur Grossen Schmiede to spearhead international partnerships. With nearly three decades of experience in global moving, Kay’s focus is to position Fröde as a trusted “partner’s partner” for the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), combining local expertise with high service standards.

In a market increasingly dominated by large networks, Fröde argues its independence is a strategic advantage. Not tied to exclusive alliances, the company can operate as a neutral, high-performance counterpart for agents seeking reliable coverage in Germany and Switzerland without conflicts of interest.
