Here Self Storage enters Spain

OpenTech Alliance has been selected by Here Self Storage to provide connected access and security technology at its new facility in Parla, southwest of Madrid.

The site will use OpenTech’s INSOMNIAC CIA access control system, INSOMNIAC SmartLock electronic locks and OpenNet wireless mesh network. Together, the systems are intended to give customers keyless access to storage units while bringing access control and network infrastructure into one operating platform.

The Parla opening marks Here Self Storage’s expansion into Spain and will serve residential and business customers in a market close to the capital. The company said it intends the professionally designed site to set a high standard for customer experience and operational quality.

Bruno Gilaranz, CEO, Spain for Here Self Storage, said the company believed the technology would help make the facility “one of the strongest self storage offerings in the country”.

Demand for self-storage capacity in and around Madrid is growing, supported by residential development, business flexibility and changing space requirements. Operators are increasingly investing in automation, access control and security systems to differentiate their sites.
