Renault Trucks has achieved a significant safety milestone, with its distribution-focused Renault Trucks D earning a 4-star rating in the 2026 assessment by Euro NCAP, alongside the prestigious CitySafe label for urban vehicle safety.
This marks the first time the Renault Trucks D has undergone Euro NCAP testing, immediately securing a strong result that highlights the effectiveness of its safety technologies. The independent body praised both active and passive systems, particularly the vehicle’s driver assistance and collision avoidance capabilities.
Designed with urban operations in mind, the Renault Trucks D features enhanced visibility solutions, including an optional passenger-side vision door with a lower window, as well as panoramic and side camera systems. These innovations are aimed at improving awareness of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists — an increasingly critical factor in city logistics.
Advanced safety systems also contribute to driver confidence and risk reduction. Adaptive Cruise Control and an Advanced Emergency Braking System performed strongly in testing, particularly in preventing rear-end and frontal collisions. Notably, the emergency braking system automatically reactivates after deactivation, ensuring continuous protection.
The vehicle achieved an overall safe driving score of 75%, with particularly strong results in post-accident systems. Its CitySafe recognition further underlines its suitability for dense urban environments. As Euro NCAP expands its focus to heavy-duty vehicles, assessments like these are helping to drive higher safety standards across the transport sector.
